System Network Engineer


As a System Engineer Networking, your focus will primarily be on network connectivity and security operations. Your main responsibility, in the first project modus phase, is managing outsourcing partners who will do the work and communicating your follow-up. Afterwards you’ll consolidate your ways-of-working within the network squad. You will contribute to the design and implementation of our LAN, WLAN and WAN networks. 

The focus of your activities is not only on connectivity (think of products such as Cisco and Brocade IP switches, SD WAN (Silver Peak) and Cisco wireless), but is broader including also on network security (Checkpoint firewalls, F5 Big-IP load balancers ...), other network-related domains (e.g. Infoblox DHCP and DNS management, network monitoring).

And making sure your knowledge is transferred to the network squad You draw energy from solving problems, troubleshooting and working with your team in an environment with the most visited web servers in Belgium and the Netherlands. In short, it's an environment connecting thousands of services and users on a daily basis. Personally, you are willing to learn new things, evolve and achieve preset goals with your team.

  • You are hands-on
  • Must-have knowledge: you have several years of experience in the operational management of a networking environment (Cisco), Firewall environment (Checkpoint), ... in a large production environment.
  • As a team player you do operations work, e.g. implement changes in maintenance windows (weekends), incident handling, ...
  • Nice-to-have knowledge: wider knowledge of switching and routing , load balancing , DNS and DHCP services
  • You have a project-based working method
  • You’ve worked in an international context, describing outsourced work and following up.
    • Managing, escalating international suppliers (India)
    • Frequent travel, mainly Antwerp - Amsterdam or vice versa
    • You work from Hoofdorp/Amsterdam or you work from Antwerp (2 vacancies)
  • You have experience with AWS and Azure Clouds
  • You are able to create concepts and solution architecture
  • You are a driven problem solver and have a significant sense of responsibility
