Data Product Owner


As Data Product Owner, you are on a mission to make DPG Media a data-driven organization by exploiting its daily reach of millions of readers and viewers as a competitive advantage. You are part of a larger data area consisting of multiple teams that facilitate data-driven decision-making throughout the entire organization within all domains of Entertainment, Advertising, Distribution, and Publishing.

With the Platform Manager, you translate DPG Media’s larger data strategy into a roadmap specifically for the advertising domain. You inspire a team of data engineers who closely collaborate with analysts and data scientists throughout different advertising departments. We build cloud-based data pipelines, both batch and streaming, and their underlying infrastructure.

  • Within the advertising domain, you will define the roadmap towards the implementation of a larger company-wide data-driven strategy.

  • You can resonate with the business, inform them, and guide them towards decision-making.

  • You act convincingly and decisively in a complex stakeholder landscape, so that made choices are accepted and embraced.

  • Agree with business on division of responsibility for delivering end-to-end data warehouses, reports, and dashboards.

  • Building bridges with other teams and IT areas in the organization comes naturally to you; you are a self-starter able to sell a vision and influence others (including senior management).

  • You will inspire, lead and coach a motivated team of data engineers.

Your key strengths
Your must-have knowledge and experience:

  • Managing different stakeholders, capturing their needs, and translating them into a prioritized backlog

  • You can diplomatically assert yourself ; saying ‘no’ without saying ‘no’ comes naturally to you

  • Experience with data warehouses, business intelligence, and BI ETL concepts

  • You do not limit yourself to your role description; you do whatever it takes. You are a true teamplayer.

  • The ability to translate complex matters into understandable and straightforward explanations

  • You have an agile mindset and live up to the principle of “value-first”.

  • Agile concepts and methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and preferably the LeSS scaling framework.

Nice to have knowledge:

  • Hands-on experience with data engineering and preferably with the AWS stack

  • Knowledge about reporting tools such as Looker, Tableau,and QLik

  • You have some understanding of digital advertising and the programmatic ecosystem

  • Knowledgeable about DMP’s such as XCense and Ad Servers such as Triton, Xandr and Freewheel is considered a huge benefit

  • Domain experience with streaming video data
